It's been so long since I posted a scrapbook page. It was not so long ago that scrapbooking was my only creative outlet (aside from photography). I would scrapbook every day. Either digitally (using Photoshop) or paper. Even though Catshy Crafts is my new passion, I haven't given up scrapbooking.

I am on the Creative Team for Creashens, who recently made the move to a new shop: Pixels and Company. She has a new digital kit, called Hello.Kit. I love the bright colors paired with the light greys. The kit was made for "all about me" pages so, here's one about me. The shot was taken in Hawaii, just days before I turned the big 4-0!

Zara's First Hair Cut

Zara took a pair of scissors to her hair several months ago (one of the perils of living in a crafty household is having a dozen pair of scissors in the house and kids who know how to use them!). She has been growing out the uneven layers slowly but surely. I have given her a trim here and there, but this was her first hair cut at a little kids salon. 

She had seen her big sis get a haircut (and the great fun she had  - playing with a treasure box of little toys, watching tv, getting free barrettes and a super-cute braided hairstyle. So, a few days later I brought Zara back for her own haircut.

Sofia's heart-shaped braid and glitter hairspray, oh my! This was only Sofia's SECOND haircut in her life.

We shared a frozen hot chocolate from Grendelsweets (highly recommended!) before her appointment. This pic shows her uneven layers.

There were no tears, no anxiety about the haircut. (And did I mention the big purple balloon she got?) She can't wait to go back!

My family and I went on a little beach getaway last week. To Long Beach. No, not the one in California. Nope, not even the one in NY. It's in Washington! So we didn't even have to board a plane. It was 3 1/2 hour drive. Apparently we are all rusty on our long road trip skills as daughter number 2 had a few MAJOR meltdowns en route to our destination. Our first night was no better with a hot room and paper thin walls.

But when we were on the beach, we all relaxed a bit. We collected feathers. We flew kites we made ourselves. We built sandcastles. We read books. We walked barefoot on the silky fine sand. We stared at the sea.

Now we're back at home. We have birthday parties in our future. In-laws in-town. A possible bathroom renovation just about to begin. And....new plans for my Etsy shop. So glad we took that relaxing vacation ;)

It's been so long since I posted a scrapbook page.

And it is sooooo wonderful when I can combine all my loves (photography, scrapbooking and Catshy) into one project. Like this one.

As I mentioned before, I am on the Creative Team at Kitschy Digitals, a shop run by the uber-talented, crafty/vintage goddess, Danielle Thompson. She recently unveiled a brand-new shop which houses a number of crafty bloggers/designers you may already be familiar with......such as Mollie Johanson of Wild Olive!

I've been a fan of her blog for a while now, so I am so happy to be working with her digital designs (which can be used for scrapbooking, paper crafts, blogging etc. Check out her latest digital kit, Blog Buddies. That embroidery hoop is too cute! And perfect to pair up with some photographs of myself and my daughter showing off some of latest hoop art.

Can't wait to use this kit again. I'm thinking of a hybrid project next. Maybe a mini book? What would you use this kit for?

Krista of Sahlin Studio is so good about keeping on trend - bringing techniques popular in paper scrapbooking to digital. These spritzed butterflies use on my page are a perfect example! She has a full post here about the misting craze here on her blog.


For my page, I used a spritzed butterfly, a hand-drawn butterfly and a butterfly embellishment. I re-colored the butterfly in Photoshop to coordinate better with my photo - the original is blue. I also re-colored the ribbon.

I have a few new pages to share with you!

With the weather warming up, my camera is coming out more as well...although I did dive into my photo archives and scrap some older photos that matched the themes of the digital kits.

This first page is about my creative life. I love when I can scrap about my crafty life. Of course, I couldn't help using a photo of my daughter. This page features Sahlin Studio's Layering Ephemera Paper Stacks. I do love vintage paper and the look of vintage. To add some color, I added a couple of felt flowers from Precocious Felt Flowers kit.  For the title, I used Tell the Story Word Art. I love the graphic look. The look of the title being stamped or printed on the paper. It's a good contrast to the vintage-y elements, no?

This next page is a blast from the past. Check out Zara when she was still a baby and my backyard was still full of dandelions. This one features Creashens' Daydreamer kit at Catscrap.

And finally, this one mixes up several kits by Creashens including: Painted Notebook Papers, Alpha Stamps, Torn Bits No. 5, and Along Kit. These photos were taken last year. We were enjoying some home-made ice-cream out on the patio. Of course, Zara got it all over her face.

I love this one so much, I printed it out and made a hybrid layout for the challenge at Studio Calico: to use journaling from something you've written electronically. The title is something I posted on Facebook along with my digi layout.
